  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

    Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

The magnetic resonance imaging is a modern radiological modality, that is able to provide high-resolution pictures without the use of X-radiation. The patients have to step on a strong magnetic field, that is required for the exam and in normal case this magnetic field is not dangerous. Special rules apply to patients with extraneous material like cardiac pacemaker, artificial cardiac valve, ear implants, pain-pumps and vascular clips. Specific pacemakers are „MRI save“ and in respective passes documented. We please you to show us your pacemaker-passes before your exam.

In certain questions the use of a special contrast medium with gadolinium (no iodine!) is necessary that will be injected in an arm vein. This contrast medium is generally tolerated without any problems and leads only in very rare cases to allergic reactions. Patients with diabetes taking drugs containing Metformin and those with a limited renal function should receive contrast media only in urgent cases. After the exam, their renal function should be controlled.

The whole examination time is depending on the clinical question between 10 and 40 minutes.

  • Computed Tomography (CT)

    Computed Tomography (CT)

The computed tomography produces very fast slices of almost all organs with a high precision of the details. This modality is an advancement of the conventional X-ray, X-ray-tubes turn around the patient and provide exact slices. After the exam the images can be processed and e.g. 3D animations, bone- or vessel-images can be created.

In certain questions the use of a special contrast medium with iodine is necessary that will be injected in an arm vein. This contrast media is not suitable for patients with known allergies against the contrast media, with hyperthyroidism or an advanced renal damage.

Pregnant women should receive a CT only in exceptional cases.

The whole examination time is depending on the clinical question between 5 and 20 minutes.

  • Digital X-ray

    Digital X-ray

The X-ray is classic in radiology and still the base method in questions like fractures, pneumonia and changings in the gastrointestinal tract. Also vascular diseases can be examined.
The use of a digital technique result in a higher resolution of the images with consecutive a better diagnosis. The patient profits by a reduced radiation exposure.

  • Curative Mammography

    Curative Mammography

The mammography is the X-ray examination of the breast. Our used digital technique achieves a higher resolution with a reduced radiation exposure for the patient. Before the exam the patient is consulted and examined by the radiologist (inspection and palpation).
The breasts are applied on plates and carefully compressed. This compression is needed for a better image quality and a more exact diagnose. Two pictures (from above and oblique) are made per breast, only in special cases extra-images are necessary.

The whole examination time is about 5 minutes.

An elevator to our mammographic department in the 1. floor is available.

  • Mammographic-Screening

    Mammographic-Screening

In June 2002 the government decided to establish a program for the early diagnosis of breast cancer. Within this program all women with the age of 50 to 69 are invited every two years.
Special trained radiographers make the X-ray images of the breasts that are interpreted by 3 specific skilled doctors (> 5000 mammographies). The aim is that pathological changings are detected in an early stadium in order to achieve better therapy results.

  • Orthovoltage Therapy (OVT)

    Orthovoltage Therapy (OVT)

The OVT is a method that can be used for patients with degenerative or infected changings in joints and the local soft parts. Examples for such fields of application are arthrosis or inflammations of tendons, especially it can be inserted when suffering from a calcaneal spur or joint calcifications.
During several sessions the patient receives a local radiation dose for only a few seconds. Because of this low radiation exposure and the short radiation period no radiation injuries result.
There are many patients who report about a distinct reduction of their pains.

  • Sonography (US, Ultrasound)

    Sonography (US, Ultrasound)

The ultrasound is a complete X-Ray free method, no side effects are known. Typical scan regions are the upper and lower abdomen, the neck (especially the thyroid gland) and the breast.
Clinical questions like inflammation of the gall bladder with or without the detection of stones, liver changings, spleen measurements and changings of the kidney or the ureters are common. The scan of the arterial and venous system is also possible.
A contact-gel is necessary that can be removed easily at the end of the exam that lasts about 5-15 minutes.

  • Patient CD´s

    Patient CD´s

Pictures of your examination are produced and saved digitally after your examination. The image format underlays international standards, the so called DICOM-format. Therein not only the picture information is contained in JPEG-form but also data about the image quality, the picture conditions and personal data about the patient and the attending doctor.
To illustrate this information correctly, a so called DICOM viewer is needed. This viewer is provided you on your personal patient CD. The medical pictures can be seen with the DICOM-viewer JiveX. After placing the CD in the device, the program will start automatically (if autostart for CD-device is activated). Alternatively you can execute the file „Start.exe“ manually.
Um diese Informationen korrekt darzustellen, ist ein sogenannter DICOM-Viewer nötig. Diesen stellt Ihnen die Radiologische Gemeinschaftspraxis auf Ihrer Patienten-CD zur Verfügung.
After you agreed with the terms of licence and registered the note for the firewall, you can choose between:

    • “Bildbearbeitung”: opens the DICOM Viewer Light and the examination-series can be viewed and measurements can be done.

    • “Schnelle Ansicht”: for viewing only in your browser (the Internet Explorer is recommended).

    • “Ende”: for closing the program.

When having problems while using the patient CD, don´t hesitate to contact us by telephone (+49 5451 94980) or by E-Mail (info(at)rgil.de).
